Key West: Mini Book

IMG_2223

Of course I had to create a mini book for Key West.
I painted the front and back of the book (made of chipboard).

IMG_2224 IMG_2226

The first page is a label with the dates we were there with a chipboard sun.
I added the flowered paper to both inner sides of the cover.
I took my Polaroid camera this trip and I’m really glad I did.
I saved a ton of different things from the trip to add to my book.
The “FLL” tab is from our luggage and I grabbed a business card from our resort.

IMG_2227 IMG_2228

The book is pretty simple.
I used different sized photos throughout and labels for some journaling.

IMG_2229 IMG_2230

Along with business cards and whatnot I got some post cards too.
I used a few of the chipboard suns/flowers etc throughout this book.

IMG_2232 IMG_2233

One the left is a photo that is 8×5 and I just cut it in half.
On the right I made a small tag and added photos to each side of it and a ribbon.

IMG_2234 IMG_2235

I saved brochures from different activities we did.

IMG_2236 IMG_2237

I cut up the brochure for our ghost tour so I could add it to the book.
I also kept our stickers/tickets.

IMG_2238 IMG_2239

I also cut up the snorkeling brochure.
The pink paper is just a fun transparency I added in.

IMG_2240 IMG_2241

More Polaroids! I love them and I enjoyed using my camera.

IMG_2242

The last page is a post card and some final journaling.

I may go back and add more to this book-more details-but for now I’m happy with it and it’s
sitting on our bookshelf in our living room with the rest of my books.

Wedding Wednesday: engagement mini book

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this before.
I have a wedding planning book that my mom got me that I am using and will keep forever
but I also wanted to document the process somehow.

So of course I went with a mini book!

IMG_1715

I covered the chip board covers with scrap book paper
and used a label to name the book.

The rings I have are way too big (I need to up my supplies).

IMG_1716 IMG_1717

I went back to put all the events in order.
So the first page has photos of Danny and I from the day of.
And then some photos of the ring.
The ‘magic’ is a rubber stamp and the arrow is a decorative chip board piece.

IMG_1718 IMG_1719

I added the stamps – which were the fist purchase for the wedding – and journaling about them.
I’m really excited to continue this book. I have a few more ideas to catch up on.
I think this is a great thing that I can show my children and look back on years from now.

Just as a reminder my idea for mini-books comes from Elise Blaha Cripe

summer mini book

Yes, I’ve already started putting together my mini album for summer.

I’m so anxious for it to start! I need sunshine and warm weather.
Danny will be gone this summer so I plan on spending a lot of time with Annabel, friends and family –
and this is how I plan on documenting it.

DSC_0014

I’m going with a 4×6 size for this book (or 6×4 – whatever).
And 3 inch rings.
The rings are way too large for now, but I’m hoping I’ll add enough pages, memorabilia etc to make them work.
I plan on filling this up with memories from June-August.
Maybe with a little leeway if something happens in May or September.

I’m using small printable calendars that you can use for Project Life to document the month the pages
are from. They’re like little book marks.

DSC_0013

The first page is a quote from The Great Gatsby and it is basically an introduction page
that will be detailing what’s going on with me at the beginning of the summer.

DSC_0016

I used some paper I already had on hand but also used this book as an excuse to buy some more.

DSC_0017 DSC_0018

I can’t wait for summer. I am so fed up with this winter weather.

Documenting 2014

I have (easily) decided to stick with Project Life to document this year.
I really loved doing it last year and I loved the freedom that came along with it.

I started Project Life in 2013 but I went back and documented everything from 2012 for Danny and I.
I have decided to use the same album. I am just creating an end page for 2013 and a beginning page for 2014.

DSC_0002

I am using the cover page cards from the Midnight Kit.
The only differences in their suggestions and what I did was adding the yellow polka dot card and adding the gold 14.

I decided to add to the album I’m already using because I have plenty of space left over.

As you can see it’s not very thick.
I’m hoping I’ll have even more pages for 2014!!!

Christmas: Project Life

Christmas/Christmas Eve were combined in my Project Life spread.
The paper I used was from scrap book paper that I stocked up on at the beginning of December
when I started December Daily and the holidays began.

I also used a Project Life 3×4 card for journaling. (From the Midnight Kit).
I used gold chip board pieces to create the ‘Christmas ’13’
and I created a 4×6 collage to add more phots to the spread.

Snowed In: Project Life

Getting snowed in for the evening turned into a play session out back for Danny and Annabel.
So I had to turn it into a spread.

The decorative paper is 12×12 scrap book paper cut down.
(I’m pretty sure I buy paper 9/10 times I’m at the craft store).
I also used 3×4 cards from the Midnight kit of Project Life.

To fit more photos in a spread I like to create a little 4×6 collage.

The End of December Daily

13. Just a typical day.
I used card stock and a chip board embellishment along with a
journaling card from the midnight kit of Project Life.

DSC_0179

14. Lots of errands with Danny.
We ended up snowed in that evening, but him and Annabel enjoyed the snow together.
Chip board numbers and a free printable were used on card stock.
The back was a simple white so I added red washi tape.

15. Normal day of grocery shopping and hanging out at home
with football and fantasy football.
And the first hot chocolate with candy canes of the season!
I used scrap book paper, stickers for the date and a free printable I found online.

DSC_0184

16. My grandmother passed away.
I’m glad she is no longer in pain.
Used card stock paper to journal and added a heart embellishment.

DSC_0185

17. Another typical day. But Danny and I are no longer working first shift together.
He went back to anywhere from 10 hour to 13 hour night shifts.
Super simple layout. I used scrap book paper and a date stamp.

 DSC_0186

18. Just a little spread for one week until Christmas.
I used chipboard letters for the ‘one week’ and a free printable
I found online to journal.
The joy sticker I found in a clearance bin at the craft store.

DSC_0187

19. Lots of playing with Annabel.
They love playing with sheets.
Danny wraps her up or covers her up in them and she loves attacking them.
For this day I used stickers for the date and simply punched a hole in the picture and backed
it with decorative scrap book paper.
The small silver heart was cut out from decorative paper.

20. My grandmother’s calling hours.
21. My grandmother’s funeral. It was very nice she would be happy.
It was good to see so many people there to celebrate her life.
I used card stock and a heart embellishment.
The card I used for writing comes from the midnight kit of Project Life.

22. Spent the day with family.
Scrap book paper and stickers for the numbers.
I cut the cloud from a midnight kit card from Project Life.

23. Typical day.
Decorative chipboard piece and stickers for the date.

24. Short day at work. Danny and I exchanged gifts and stockings.
Annabel got her gift as well that she ripped up very quickly.
We watched A Christmas Story and drank hot chocolate that night.
Double sided lay out with chip board letters and a card from
the midnight kit of Project Life.

25. We went to my parents’ house first thing in the morning then to my grandparents’
and the to Danny’s family.
I used chipboard letters and scrap book paper.

DSC_0196 DSC_0197

I did enjoy this craft but it was a bit hard to continue once everything with my
grandma happened. But I’m glad I finished it and I may try it
again next year depending on what’s going on next year.
