Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Show

A couple weeks ago my mom and I went to our first bridal show. We were successful, we booked a DJ and put a down payment on tuxedos and found a potential invitation place. We also went to a new church that morning to check it out for the ceremony, but it’s out. It was a Catholic church but it is not the one. We were also able to get a few things for the reception. It’s nice to check some stuff off our list, and to have some plans. I think we’re working at a nice pace. 1 1/2 years until the wedding! We’re doing good.

And this is our lovely photo strip we took at the show.

Wedding Wednesday: Centerpieces

Is perfect. I think this is what I want.
Maybe not the exact flowers, but this idea is perfect!
Maybe mix in some white pumpkins as well.

I’m really getting into the Halloween aspect of my wedding but I need to take a step back from that because no matter
how much I love Halloween and all that, I do not want my wedding looking like a Halloween party.

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Band

I chose my wedding band! It was quite and easy decision once I found one I liked
for a great price I snatched it up! It is something I’m going to wear forever but it wasn’t one of the
most important items of the wedding so I was really on the hunt for a great deal.
It’s early and I still have over a year until I can actually wear it. But I saved $300 on it and who could say ‘no’ to that?

(The picture is kind of blurry. It’s 14k white gold with paved inset diamonds. Simple but perfect.)

Danny knows what type of band he wants but we need to go and have him sized before we can order it.

I’ve been absent from this blog .. again. I’ve only been gone a week or so. So I’ve updated with a new layout just to changes things up and get myself back into the game.

Thanks to those of you who have nominated me for the Leibster Award and sorry that  I did not follow through on any of the rules/nominating of others.

Lately I’ve been keeping up with my 2014 reading goal and I have surpassed it. At first 14 books seemed like a lot, but I guess when you’re not in school constantly reading for class you have a lot more time to read other things. I should have upped my goal to 50! (I’m currently on number 18!) Hopefully I can continue to share the books I’ve read so that if others see the posts they can discover new books to read, because who doesn’t love that!?

Wedding planning is still in full affect and I am currently torn about where to actually get married. The reception hall is booked but there is still nowhere for our ceremony. Part of that is due to the fact that Christen churches around us want a ridiculous amount of money to have a ceremony there. (We’re talking almost $1000! – not worth it to me) So we’re looking into Catholic churches (I was baptized and raised Catholic). So now we need to think about if we want to do the classes required and blah blah blah.

We’re fighting our way out of the last bit of winter, and it is a rough battle. Just when you think it’s over, it comes back.

My job was up in the air for some time due to major changes but as of right now all is well and I’m so thankful to be employed.

My finances and whatnot are going well. It is one of my 25 by 25 to save money (for the wedding and school loans). I am quite proud of myself.

So, thank you to those who are continuing to read/follow my blog. If any of you exist …

I hate when Danny has drill, but those are the weekends that I can do what I want and get stuff done that he wouldn’t want to do or usually we have plans when he’s home.

Before he left we had a little date night at Applebees.

Then came home and we rolled change for our wedding. Yeah that sounds totally cheap but it works. And it started with us just throwing our change in a box and realizing that each time we counted it we were getting at least $50. So we started rolling it and depositing it into our bank account. At first I was thinking that it wouldn’t make a big difference, but at this rate it could get us a couple hundred dollars for the wedding.

I started my fourteenth book this year!!! (Pride and Prejudice) Which means once I’ve finished it I hit my goal. I had no idea that I would hit it this fast! I’m thinking about raising it but I may just go with the flow.

I ran errands and was able to pick out a new swim suit for vacation. I’m sure my other two fit but the fact that I have had them for at least two years I talked myself into getting another one – it was hard to convince me.

I also did the typical cleaning and laundry and hanging out with Annabel.

My mom also came over. We’re throwing my cousin a bridal shower in May so we worked on her invites.

I ordered a bunch of favor bags for our wedding and started stamping them.

I did some work on our engagement mini book and a Project Life spread. At the rate I’m going I may need to split 2014 into two albums!

Danny got home at a decent time on Sunday so we got to hang out. I was so happy to see him.

And we turned the clocks forward an hour – more daylight! I love it!

Cheers to a new week – hopefully it goes by quick!

Project Life: February

 photo 1

My first page for February was the wedding hall. I took a bunch of photos while we were there
so I could remember what it looked like if I went home to think about booking it.
I used a journaling card from the Midnight Kit and I slipped a brochure about the hall into the other 3×4 slot.
I used a label on the photo of the bridal table.

The second page is Danny and I building our bookshelf.
I used the Midnight Kit for filler and a journaling card.
I used the A Beautiful Mess app to edit the photos and a rubber ‘for the love of” stamp.
And little heart brads on the filler card.

The next page is a date night we had with Danny’s friends.
I used the Midnight Kit again and ‘his’ and ‘her’ stamps.

The next page is my birthday layout. I used the Midnight Kit again and ‘for the love of’ stamp.
I used wooden flowers and sewed them into the 3×4 pocket.
I can’t wait to use that technique more throughout this project.

The last spread for February was another date night, but just the two of us.
I used the Cherry Kit for the date card and just gray card stock with purple washi tap.
This is one of my favorites just because I like that we each have a photo in a 3×4 slot.
