Summer Manifesto

read lots and lots of books

get my small photography business going

do lots of crafts

do some around the house DIY projects

take Annabel on adventures

spend lots of time outdoors

see my family and friends as much as possible

work on the wedding planning

goals: photography business

So, lately I’ve been taking steps to start up my own photography business. I’ve got appointments to amp up my portfolio and business ideas along with all the little aspects that go into it (stationary, pricing, website etc). I am surrounded by notes of ideas and things that must be done. Danny is so supportive and positive about it. I’m nervous as hell. He says the worst I can do is fail, or not make any money but at least it is something fun that I enjoy. And at least I won’t be sitting around thinking what if? or I should have tried.

I’ll be sure to update about it.

Cheers to a new venture!

Sibling Photo Shoot

So for Mother’s Day my friend wanted to get some nice photos of her and her brother for their mother. She wanted enough to create a small album and get some framed. I ended up taking 280 photos! It was a lot of fun. I am by no means a professional but it was great practice and I’m glad she trusted me to do it. These are just some of them.

Project Life: April

IMG_2243

The layouts of April are fairly random. Except for our vacation.
This first page has washi tape and rubber stamps and chipboard pieces.
Annabel shows up a ton in the album.

IMG_2244

The next page is super random. I wanted to add in the photo strip of my mom and I though.
I scanned it into the computer and cropped it so each one would fit into the 3×4 pockets.

IMG_2245

This page was over two days. We had a little cookout and went to the movies.
Of course I saved the ticket stubs.
And it was Annabel’s first birthday.
The cards I used were from the Sunshine Kit. I love that kit and it’s really going well with my spring photos.

IMG_2246

This is the first page of our vacation.
The “Key West” is gold stickers and I used chipboard pieces on the date card.
Again these cards are from the Sunshine Kit.
I added a divider to this section as well.

IMG_2247

This page is a design A cut in half. The other half was ruined so instead of throwing the whole
thing away I just cut it up and used it as an insert.

More Sunshine Kit card and chipboard pieces.

IMG_2250

Same with this page. Washi tape & Sunshine Kit.

Key West: Mini Book

IMG_2223

Of course I had to create a mini book for Key West.
I painted the front and back of the book (made of chipboard).

IMG_2224 IMG_2226

The first page is a label with the dates we were there with a chipboard sun.
I added the flowered paper to both inner sides of the cover.
I took my Polaroid camera this trip and I’m really glad I did.
I saved a ton of different things from the trip to add to my book.
The “FLL” tab is from our luggage and I grabbed a business card from our resort.

IMG_2227 IMG_2228

The book is pretty simple.
I used different sized photos throughout and labels for some journaling.

IMG_2229 IMG_2230

Along with business cards and whatnot I got some post cards too.
I used a few of the chipboard suns/flowers etc throughout this book.

IMG_2232 IMG_2233

One the left is a photo that is 8×5 and I just cut it in half.
On the right I made a small tag and added photos to each side of it and a ribbon.

IMG_2234 IMG_2235

I saved brochures from different activities we did.

IMG_2236 IMG_2237

I cut up the brochure for our ghost tour so I could add it to the book.
I also kept our stickers/tickets.

IMG_2238 IMG_2239

I also cut up the snorkeling brochure.
The pink paper is just a fun transparency I added in.

IMG_2240 IMG_2241

More Polaroids! I love them and I enjoyed using my camera.

IMG_2242

The last page is a post card and some final journaling.

I may go back and add more to this book-more details-but for now I’m happy with it and it’s
sitting on our bookshelf in our living room with the rest of my books.

Project Life: March

March was a sad month for Project Life. But I was able to start using the Sunshine Edition!
I totally love it and I’m glad to be adding new designs and colors to the album.

DSC_0005

The first layout on the left is a page of the Design A cut in half.
I did basically the exact same thing on the other side of this page.
For some reason I really love the individual black and whites of us.

I used the sunshine & midnight kits for this whole spread.
On the right is Annabel’s play date with her new friend.
Nothing too special about these pages.

DSC_0008

The next page I used the sunshine kit.
I made my own tag to add to the photo on the bottom left and used some decorative wood chips to add to the photos.
It was a random spread of photos collected throughout the month so I just put ‘March’ on the date card.

I didn’t realize how little of spreads I made in March until I was adding one for April.

I need to do better!

Polaroid Photo Album

So I have a Polaroid camera. I’ve mentioned it before in this post.

I usually use my Polaroid photos in my mini books or other crafts, but I didn’t know what to do with my ‘extra’ ones. So I grabbed an
album I already had sitting around and decided to store them there.

DSC_0001DSC_0002 DSC_0004 DSC_0006

I added some fun scrapbook paper to the pages instead of the white that it came with and I simply adhered the photos to the paper. It’s nothing great or anything to brag about but I’m glad I finally have a place for them and hopefully it’ll give me the motivation to take more photos with it! (I’m still getting over the worry of spending $1 per photo and not knowing how it’s going to turn out!)

Horrible photos I know. But I’m glad I finally got somewhere for my Polaroids!
