Project Life: April

IMG_2243

The layouts of April are fairly random. Except for our vacation.
This first page has washi tape and rubber stamps and chipboard pieces.
Annabel shows up a ton in the album.

IMG_2244

The next page is super random. I wanted to add in the photo strip of my mom and I though.
I scanned it into the computer and cropped it so each one would fit into the 3×4 pockets.

IMG_2245

This page was over two days. We had a little cookout and went to the movies.
Of course I saved the ticket stubs.
And it was Annabel’s first birthday.
The cards I used were from the Sunshine Kit. I love that kit and it’s really going well with my spring photos.

IMG_2246

This is the first page of our vacation.
The “Key West” is gold stickers and I used chipboard pieces on the date card.
Again these cards are from the Sunshine Kit.
I added a divider to this section as well.

IMG_2247

This page is a design A cut in half. The other half was ruined so instead of throwing the whole
thing away I just cut it up and used it as an insert.

More Sunshine Kit card and chipboard pieces.

IMG_2250

Same with this page. Washi tape & Sunshine Kit.

Key West: Mini Book

IMG_2223

Of course I had to create a mini book for Key West.
I painted the front and back of the book (made of chipboard).

IMG_2224 IMG_2226

The first page is a label with the dates we were there with a chipboard sun.
I added the flowered paper to both inner sides of the cover.
I took my Polaroid camera this trip and I’m really glad I did.
I saved a ton of different things from the trip to add to my book.
The “FLL” tab is from our luggage and I grabbed a business card from our resort.

IMG_2227 IMG_2228

The book is pretty simple.
I used different sized photos throughout and labels for some journaling.

IMG_2229 IMG_2230

Along with business cards and whatnot I got some post cards too.
I used a few of the chipboard suns/flowers etc throughout this book.

IMG_2232 IMG_2233

One the left is a photo that is 8×5 and I just cut it in half.
On the right I made a small tag and added photos to each side of it and a ribbon.

IMG_2234 IMG_2235

I saved brochures from different activities we did.

IMG_2236 IMG_2237

I cut up the brochure for our ghost tour so I could add it to the book.
I also kept our stickers/tickets.

IMG_2238 IMG_2239

I also cut up the snorkeling brochure.
The pink paper is just a fun transparency I added in.

IMG_2240 IMG_2241

More Polaroids! I love them and I enjoyed using my camera.

IMG_2242

The last page is a post card and some final journaling.

I may go back and add more to this book-more details-but for now I’m happy with it and it’s
sitting on our bookshelf in our living room with the rest of my books.

Memory Jar

I wanted to think of a cool name for this, I couldn’t think of one so I’m calling it a memory jar.

IMG_2219

These are just rocks, coral and seashells that we collected at Key West.
The beaches were really rocky compared to others we’ve been to and there weren’t that many shells.

I got the jar from Target in their fabulous “junk section” that is up front.
It was only $1! (and I grabbed a few more for other projects)

I just added a tag to label it and ta-da!

It’s sitting on our bookshelf in the living room with our Key West photo.

Polaroid Photo Album

So I have a Polaroid camera. I’ve mentioned it before in this post.

I usually use my Polaroid photos in my mini books or other crafts, but I didn’t know what to do with my ‘extra’ ones. So I grabbed an
album I already had sitting around and decided to store them there.

I added some fun scrapbook paper to the pages instead of the white that it came with and I simply adhered the photos to the paper. It’s nothing great or anything to brag about but I’m glad I finally have a place for them and hopefully it’ll give me the motivation to take more photos with it! (I’m still getting over the worry of spending $1 per photo and not knowing how it’s going to turn out!)

Horrible photos I know. But I’m glad I finally got somewhere for my Polaroids!

Project Life: February

 photo 1

My first page for February was the wedding hall. I took a bunch of photos while we were there
so I could remember what it looked like if I went home to think about booking it.
I used a journaling card from the Midnight Kit and I slipped a brochure about the hall into the other 3×4 slot.
I used a label on the photo of the bridal table.

The second page is Danny and I building our bookshelf.
I used the Midnight Kit for filler and a journaling card.
I used the A Beautiful Mess app to edit the photos and a rubber ‘for the love of” stamp.
And little heart brads on the filler card.

photo 2

The next page is a date night we had with Danny’s friends.
I used the Midnight Kit again and ‘his’ and ‘her’ stamps.

The next page is my birthday layout. I used the Midnight Kit again and ‘for the love of’ stamp.
I used wooden flowers and sewed them into the 3×4 pocket.
I can’t wait to use that technique more throughout this project.

photo 3

The last spread for February was another date night, but just the two of us.
I used the Cherry Kit for the date card and just gray card stock with purple washi tap.
This is one of my favorites just because I like that we each have a photo in a 3×4 slot.

weekend

Although Danny was gone through the whole weekend it was still a good one. My friends came over on Friday to celebrate my birthday and I spent all day Saturday hanging out with Annabel and reading. It was the first day in months that I didn’t leave the house. I also finally painted the bookshelf that Danny built for me. Sunday I went shopping with my mom and sister. We got some wedding ideas and found some good deals for wedding stuff.

IMG_1805

I can’t wait to get the bookshelf in our bedroom!

IMG_1807

Annabel fell asleep on me while I was reading.
It’s so hard to train her to stay off the furniture because she is so needy and cuddly.
And cute so I can’t say no.

IMG_1808

She also was sleeping with her paw on my hand.

IMG_1810

Having everyone over on Friday night really wore her out.
She’s so cute when she’s calm and sleeping.

pom poms

These were a little experiment.
My mother wants to decorate a wedding shower that we’re throwing with these.

IMG_1701

It was a little more difficult than it looks.
There is a lot of fluffing involved.

The more tissue paper sheets you use the thicker the pom pom.

I forget how many I used for the yellow but it less than the rainbow one which was eight.
1. line up the tissue paper and fold them like an accordion.
2. take string or wire and tie it in the middle of the tissue paper.
3. If you like, you can curve the edges of the paper or cut them into points.
(it looks better than leaving them)

IMG_1700
4. pull the tissue papers open like a fan.
5. pull the tissue papers apart one at a time, carefully.

And then do a ton of fluffing until it looks the way you want it.
Just tie a long string or wire or whatever you like in the middle to hang them with.
When I hung them up I made sure the best looking side was facing out.
These were just a bit of practice but I’m probably going to use them as decorations for my small birthday get together.

(sorry for the crappy photos – phone camera)
