We Have Always Lived in the Castle By: Shirley Jackson

I loved this book!

Shirley Jackson is talented, an author that I plan to read more of.
If you’ve never heard of her you may have seen the movie ‘The Haunting’ which is based on her book The Haunting of Hill House.
There is also a 1963 production which has gotten much better reviews than ‘The Haunting’.

This novel is about Mary Katherine and her sister Constance. They live alone with their sick Uncle.
Their house is just outside of the main village and they are outsiders.

There are rumors, children’s rhymes and superstitions surrounding them and their deceased family.

This book is a mystery and in the point of view of Mary Katherine who is slightly crazy.

This book is wonderfully written.
