Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

I have to admit this book took some time for me to get into it.

This is going to sound crazy but I honestly think it’s because I had such a hard time pronouncing the
names of the characters! It takes place in the 1800’s Iceland. Therefore the names are Icelandic and horribly difficult.
So I stopped worrying about it and made up my own names and got into the book.

The main character is Agnes. She is sentenced to death for murder and this follows the story of her life
as she waits for execution.

This isn’t necessarily a mystery novel but it was a bit like one.
The book jumps around to different times, characters, letters etc.

I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars (on GoodReads)

This book is inspired by a true story and a true woman.
