The “Cool Girl”

I waited patiently – years – for the pendulum to swing the other way, for men to start reading Jane Austen, learn how to knit, pretend to love cosmos, organize scrapbook parties, and make out with each other while we leer.
And then we’d say, Yeah, he’s a Cool Guy.

-Gone Girl: Gillian Flynn

I’m glad I’m not a “Cool Girl” – the girl who fakes it for a guy.
The girl who pretends to love everything he does so his friends approve.

I’m glad I have someone who is different from me but we’re enough of the same.
